I'm trying to assemble as complete as possible a list of materials which could be used to make a blade from. It doesn't have to just be for a sword. A blade for an axe or a knife would also be included.

So far I have the following list:
Code:
wood - training, practice glass - decoration, or maybe a magical enchantment could make it strong enough not to break bone - historically quite ineffective, but possible gold - see glass stone - very hard to work with, and not very sharp, but probably quite durable copper - we still make them today silver - more fancy bronze - was the primary source of blades before iron it seems iron - stronger than bronze titanium - very good durability and strength relative to its very light weight steel - omg yes platinum - apparently these exist in other games at least, i don't know how effective it would be diamond - same as gold and glass mithril - gimli says 'yes plz' obsidian - rapidly cooled lava i think? could have many sources if dragons around
Anything that could conceivably used in a medieval fantasy setting I would like to add to this list. Any assistance is required. Notice I'm including wood, glass, etc. -- things that would be highly ineffective and/or impractical but could still have a conceivable purpose.

Most of those are either a bit too specialized for my purposes, or they fit into existing materials.

However....

Mithril, Bronze, Obsidian added to the list. Thanks!
