Telnet MUD Client was created by Rumble
So I finally decided to ditch ZMUD since it doesn't support 256 colors and hasn't been updated in years. I almost paid for CMUD but the half dozen times I have tried it over the years it has crashed repeatedly. Silvaria recommended Mudlet and I have to say I am impressed. It uses Lua scripting which takes a bit of learning after ZMUD's custom scripts but it is more sensible and has become a standard for game scripting.

Any other recommendations out there so I can update our ridiculously old HELP TELNET entry?

There's another client I've tried for Mac called MudWalker ( mudwalker.cubik.org/ ), though I didn't enjoy it. Atlantis was good, but it confused me as a beginner to MUDing. Savitar requires a registration after 30 days, but I paid it because it was very aesthetically pleasing to me (and Mudlet for Mac hadn't been polished). Savitar is slightly dated (last big update in 2010), and doesn't have automatic logging or 256 support.

I highly recommend Mudlet, though. I've only had it crash on me once in the month I've been using it, and I had no data loss because of the logging settings.

Began building in July, 2012.

Began learning C in July, 2013.

Downloaded ROM and TBAmud in August, 2013.

Conversion nearly complete.

Thanks, I cleaned it up a bit. If a client hasn't had a recent release I deleted it.

Personally I use MUSHClient, which works pretty well. On top of that, it's free; can't really complain about that. Also it has never crashed on me, though for the most part programs don't crash on this computer in the first place. Except for the mud.

Mudlet though sounds interesting, I might have to check out some of these other clients!

OpenBSD (workstation/laptop) - titin++
WindowsXP (wife's laptop) - Mudlet

I don't think we should forget the portable clients for cell phones and tablets.
